An anthology series about high-profile crimes or killers who gained public attention and notoriety… Evan Peters [Jeffrey Dahmer] says they had one rule, from Ryan Murphy [Creator], to follow going into the series: that they would never is told from Dahmer's point of view. "As an audience, you don't really sympathize with him. You rather observe it, you know, from the outside.".
In many episodes there is 3M Command(TM) tape shown in the kitchen of Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment, this happens as late as 1991. 3M debuted its first wave of Command(TM) products in 1996. Evan Peters seriously outdid himself here.
His acting was top notch and his portrayal of Dahmer, from his clothing to his expression, everything was perfect, perfect everything, down to the last minute details. And besides him, the performances of the other cast members (his father, mother, grandmother, Glenda Cleveland and the victims) were also excellent. The writing and script were also decent, especially the fact that they didn’t take too many creative liberties and as a result the story ended up being close to the actual events.
The only thing I found a little disappointing was the length. The pacing was a little slow especially in the last few episodes and I feel the series could have easily been wrapped up in 8 episodes instead of 10. Especially for those interested in the crime thriller genre.
It’s a realistic look at one of the most notorious serial killers in our history where they didn’t romanticize it and actually called out those who tended to.
